Need ECM for N-Star 4.0 with OBD-1 Data link.
I am putting a 2001 4.0 Aurora engine and transmission into my 1989 Olds Toronado. Is there a ECM out there that will run this engine and that uses the OBD-1 Data lines? Without this data line, the body computer will kick out an error. Thanks, John

2001 Northstar into a 1989 Trofeo
I am trying to find a ECM that will run my Northstar and has a OBD1 data line to work with my 1989 BCM. The last I heard, the 2001 PCM cannot be reprogramed and has a OBD11 data line. I was thinking of a 1989 Cadillac Allante with the SFI V8 engine, but there is no knock sensor in the ECM. I also thought of a 1990 Corvette ZR1. Do you have any ideas? Thanks, John

the 2001 PCM will run the engine and trans just fine in that car. Why would you need a OBD1 data line?

OBD-1 DATA LINE
I was wanting to use an ECM with OBD-1 data lines so I could tie into my BCM without causing any errors. On this car, you can use the touch screen computer to do a complete check of all the sensors on the engine. It performs the same functions as a scanner, but it is built into the car. Also if I need the chip changed to eliminate the VATS security, raise the RPM limit, or change the timing for increased power, OBD-2 cannot be reprogramed--from what I have heard.

I understand on the UART now.
I am under the impression the PCM is open for tuning, but it doesn't use UART
