Northstar in my '47 Olds
Hi everyone. My current project is a 47 Olds Sedanette. Has a Camaro front clip in it and am hanging a Jag independent rear in it. I chose the Northstar simply for the look and power, and not wanting to do the 'normal' small-block thing. I have located a complete '93 donor car, and my intention is to try to use the stock ECM and harness, hopefully paired down quite a bit. I notice that most conversions out there using standalone systems, and I know there must be a good reason for this, but these systems exceed the cost of the donor car! What are the show stoppers to trying to run the stock ECM and harness here? My thinking was the the 4T80 could be interchanged with the 4L80 as far as wiring/sensors, but I have yet to talk to my transmission guy about that one.
Thanks in advance - I looked to see if anyone had posted a similar topic and couldn't find one, so I apologize in advance if this is info is duplicated elsewhere!

I am aware of a OE RWD 4L80E setup for a 96 to 99 engine

If you chose to go with a 4L80E use the PCS Trans computer. That is what I use for my 4T80E and it is wonderful. Full adjustment of Line pressures, shift points, etc. Very nice if you run the hotter cams. You can shift it right in the power band.
